In celebration of the annual Dutch Science and Technology Week, GLOBE students were invited by GLOBE Netherlands to design a poster expressing the need for international environmental cooperation and the contributions made by the GLOBE Program. GLOBE students from around the country submitted over 80 posters. The three winning artists - Oscar Koeroo, Mariska Oppelaar, and Jan Tjalma - each won a new computer with Internet capabilities for their schools: International College Edith Stein, Dr. Visser 't Hooft Lyceum and CSG Comenius, respectively.

The winners of the contest were announced October 12, 1996 during a videoconference with GLOBE scientists Dr. Dixon Butler and Dr. Elissa Levine. The videoconference was part of the Science Festival, an event that closes the Dutch Science and Technology Week. The videoconference gave Dutch students the opportunity to interview the GLOBE scientists. The students prepared questions during classes and submitted them with their posters.
