Introducing Quick Tables |
SAMHSA's Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA) recently added a new component to its online analysis capabilities called Quick Tables. Quick Tables allows users to produce analytic tables by choosing variables from Drop-down menus. This report provides an example showing the six easy steps to use Quick Tables to analyze any of the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) files. The TEDS data currently contains 9.6 million records and is useful for analyzing various issues relating to the substance abuse treatment system in the U.S. For example, Custom Quick Tables may be generated for 11 different client characteristics for an individual State or for all States combined. The example in this report shows employment status for treatment admissions in Maryland by year from 1992 to 2000. For further information on how the TEDS data set can be used to make geographic comparisons, see The DASIS Report: Analyzing Geographic Areas Within TEDS. For information on how the TEDS data set can be used to analyze changes over time see The DASIS Report: Graphing Multi-Year Analyses of TEDS. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA) online data analysis system is provided by the Office of Applied Studies within the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). In addition to the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS), SAMHDA contains over 80 studies on substance abuse that are available for online data analysis.
