Transportation Information

Public transportation is the best way to travel to the D.C. Courts. The D.C. Courts are located at the Metrorail Red Line Judiciary Square Station (once in the station, take the exit marked "D.C. Courthouses" for the Moultrie Courthouse and the exit marked "Building Museum" for Court Buildings A and B). In addition, the Archives/Navy Memorial Station on the Yellow and Green Lines and the Gallery Place/Chinatown station on the Yellow, Green and Red Lines are within walking distance.

Metro Accessible

The Courts are accessible from the Judiciary Square metro stop. The Judiciary Square Metro station is located on the "red line" between the Union Station and Gallery Place/Chinatown metro stops.

Location: South side of F St., between 4th & 5th Sts. N.W., East side of 4th St. between D & E Sts.

Early station/entrance closings: (4th St.) Weekday- midnight, Saturday/Sunday - all day

Last train departs: Shady Grove- 12:01 a.m. Glenmont- 12:09 a.m. (Trains leave exactly 3 hours later on Friday and Saturday nights.)

Metrobus service:
  • 42 (on 9th St.)
  • 70, 71 (on 7th St.)
  • 80 (on H St.)
  • D1, D3, D6 (on E St.)
  • P6 (on H St.)
  • X2 (on H St.)
  • 30, 32, 34, 35, 36 (on Pennsylvania Avenue)

D.C. Circulator

The Courts are also accessible from the D.C. Circulator. The bus route has stops on the Red Line near Seventh Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., which are close to the Moultrie Courthouse. The Court offices at Gallery Place are accessible from the stops at 7th and H Streets, N.W. as well as 7th and Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. Contact the D.C. Parking

On-street parking at Judiciary Square and around Gallery Place area is extremely limited. Therefore, we encourage you to use public transportation. Parking is available in commercial garages for $12 to $15 per day. The Downtown DC Business Improvement District maintains a list of garages in the area that includes each parking facility's street and website address and phone number: http://www.downtowndc.org/page.asp?pageid=68|74&se=parking.

Driving Directions

Driving from Northern Virginia on I-66
I-66 becomes Constitution Avenue. Follow Constitution Avenue east to 6th Street. Turn left onto 6th Street. Turn right onto Indiana Avenue. The Moultrie Courthouse is located on the right.

To go to Court Building A or Court Building B, continue north on 6th Street and turn right at E Street. Proceed east one block. Buildings A and B are on the left.

Driving from Northern Virginia on I-395
Follow I-395 north into the District. Take either the 14th Street exit or the 12th Street exit (northbound). Turn right onto Constitution Avenue. Follow Constitution Avenue east to 6th Street. Turn left onto 6th Street. Turn right onto Indiana Avenue. The Moultrie Courthouse is located on the right. To go to Court Building A or Court Building B, continue north on 6th Street and turn right at E Street. Proceed east one block. Buildings A and B are on the left.

Driving from Maryland southbound on I-95 / Baltimore-Washington Parkway (B-W Parkway)
Follow I-95 to B-W Parkway southbound. Take B-W Parkway to Route 50 westbound, into Washington, D.C. Route 50 becomes New York Avenue. Follow New York Avenue several miles, passing I-395 southbound exit. Shortly after I-395 southbound exit, turn left on 5th Street, N.W. Court Building A will be on the left, between F and E Streets, Court Building B is behind and across Judiciary Square from Court Building A. The Moultrie Courthouse is ahead, at the end of 5th Street at the intersection with Indiana Avenue.
