Federal Emergency Management Agency, Disaster Assistance Directorate, Disaster Assistance Support Center

Location: Washington, DC
Position Title: Special Advisor to the Director and Deputy Director
Duration: 6-9 Months (if possible)
Clearance: None

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The candidate will act as a special advisor to the DASC’s Director and Deputy Director in the DASC Senior Management Office (SMO), assisting primarily the Counselor to the Director and Deputy Director. The DASC SMO consists of the Director, Deputy Director, Executive Officers, Counselor, and Administrative Assistant. Core functions include analysis, strategic thinking, and operational effectiveness.

The candidate will:

* Serve as senior advisor to the Deputy and Deputy Director on division’s operations including budgetary, human resource, reporting, and technology issues

* Assist the Counselor to the Director on intra-division and inter-division high priority projects

* Provide guidance on innovation, technology, and data analysis elements

* Coordinate with division’s Executive Officers to optimize operations

* Develop and foster working relationships with other entities in DAD and FEMA

* Facilitate and coordinate Director priority projects

* Direct business model and process evaluations

* Perform strategic and organizational analyses

* Identify and solve division’s risk vulnerabilities

* In some instances, travel to various field locations to provide disaster management support

* Perform ad-hoc tasks and duties as assigned

* Experience prioritizing simultaneous high priority projects

* Excellent communication skills

* Strong analytical and quantitative skill-set

* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in teams with various individuals

* Problem solving aptitude

* Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities

* Strong entrepreneurial mindset and prior business analysis experience is advantageous
