A data assimilation was done for the western and southern parts of the West on January 15. Adjustments were needed due to over-modeled snowmelt due to warm air temperatures during the past week. In the Cascades, additions ranged from about 1/2 inch in the north to about 4 inches at high elevations in the south. In the northern California mountains and in the northern Sierra Nevada, around 2 inches of water were added, with decreasing amounts to the south. One to 2 inches of water was added through the higher elevations of Oregon.
