A data assimilation was performed across the West on January 13, mainly to address differences due to snowmelt. The greatest adjustments due to snowmelt was in the Sierra Nevada, where generally 2 to 4 inches of water was added, with higher amounts added at higher elevations in the south.
Adjustments were also needed in the Cascades, the Blue and Wallowa mountains, and in Colorado due to the under-production of snowfall this weekend in these areas.
