The Child Care Center provides a safe, clean environment
with a friendly, warm, and caring atmosphere where children
can "learn through play." The center provides an
opportunity for all children who attend to participate in
creative and stimulating activities in language arts, math,
science, social studies, music appreciation (listening skills),
drama (puppet shows), and arts and crafts. Special emphasis
is given to the development of the child's fine motor skills
through the use of age-appropriate manipulative games, puzzles,
crayons, and handwriting practice.
Elementary and junior high age children have an opportunity
to develop their reading comprehension and creative writing
skills as well as to participate in creative arts. All children
have the opportunity to share and cooperate with each other
and adults through games and activities. Since the length
of the stay for children in the center varies, the program
is very flexible.
The center is staffed by one full-time director and an assistant
director. There are also four part-time aides.
Who Can Use the Center?
The center is for the children of jurors, witnesses, and others who need care,
ages 2 through 12 years, while their parents are conducting
business in the Court. The child must be toilet trained. There
is no charge to persons using this service. Please bring a copy
of the child's immunization records.
Is Lunch Provided?
Lunch is not provided and parents are required to pick up their children during
their lunch breaks. If a juror cannot return due to deliberations,
arrangements are made for his or her children to have lunch
in the center.
Staff Training
The director provides training and development to all staff, volunteers, and youth
aides to increase their knowledge and to develop their skills
and talents in working with children ages 2 through 12 years.
Center Resources
The center provides a resource information bulletin board
for parents to keep them informed and aware of community services,
resources, and special events related to children in the community.
