Mr.
Maurice Chevalier was born on September 12, 1888, in Paris,
France. He was a motion picture actor and singer. In 1951
and 1954 Mr. Chevalier was reportedly refused a visa to
the United States by the Department of State because of
his association with communists and communist causes.
Mr. Chevalier was never the subject of an FBI investigation,
but his name is mentioned in several files. He was described
as a card-carrying member of the French Communist Party.
On May 13, 1961, Mr. Chevalier was admitted to the United
States to attend sessions of the United Nations in his
capacity as a French United Nations delegate.
