JACKIE DALE JOHNSON SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON
FOR AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD ON FORT BLISS

United States Attorney Johnny Sutton announced that in El Paso this morning, 24-year-old Jackie Dale Johnson was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison followed by ten years of supervised release for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

United States District Judge David Briones also ordered that the former U.S. Army soldier pay restitution not only for all past counseling, but all future counseling the child may need.

On April 19, 2007, Johnson pleaded guilty to the charge. According to the Factual Basis filed in this case, Johnson admitted that he routinely lived with, and babysat for, a family living on Fort Bliss in El Paso. The Court found that on several occasions, while the victim was between two and four years of age, Johnson sexually abused the child including oral and vaginal penetration. Johnson’s conduct was discovered after the victim, at age 4, told an investigator that Johnson had her perform oral sex on him.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Defense Criminal Investigation Service together with the El Paso Child Advocacy Center. Assistant United States Attorney J. Brandy Gardes prosecuted this case on behalf of the Government.
