Highlights:
- Based
on SAMHSA's annual National Surveys on Drug Use and Health from 2002
to 2007, past month marijuana use among adolescents (i.e., youths
aged 12 to 17) generally decreased from 2002 (8.2%) to 2005 (6.8%),
and then remained constant between 2005 and 2007.

The percentage of adolescents who perceived great risk from smoking
marijuana once a month increased between 2002 (32.4%) and 2003
(34.9%), and then remained relatively stable between 2003 and 2007.
- Adolescents
who perceived great risk from smoking marijuana once a month were
much less likely to have used marijuana in the past month than
those who perceived moderate to no risk (1.4% vs. 9.5%).

is based on SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug
Use and Health conducted by the
Office of Applied
Studies (OAS) in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
(SAMHSA). SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH)
is the primary source of information on the prevalence, patterns, and
consequences of drug and alcohol use and abuse and for selected mental
health measures in the general U.S. civilian non institutionalized population,
age 12 and older. SAMHSA's National
Survey on Drug Use & Health also provides estimates for drug use and for
selected mental health measures by State.
