Biosketch:
Ms. Dolores Doherty is a Senior Grants Management Specialist on the DDN team in the Grants Management Branch of NIDDK. Ms. Doherty earned her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She started her career in grants management at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the Grants Accounting Department. She served the University of Alabama at Birmingham for 11 years in positions such as Grant Accountant, Clinical Trials Contract negotiator, and departmental Financial Officer and Administrative Officer. After 11 years at UAB, she moved onto Purdue University and worked as an Account Manager in the Sponsored Programs Office for 2 years.
In 2002, Ms. Doherty accepted a position as a Grants Management Specialist with NHLBI. Her portfolio included all funding mechanisms of support and was heavily concentrated in clinical studies. She has served as Co-Chair of the Compliance, Education, Review Team (CERT), and is a current member of the Grant Guidance Committee. She is a member of the Society for Research Administrators. She has also served as a speaker on various topics for the Office of Policy for Extramural Research Administration (OPERA) at several professional meetings.
