The GLOBE protocol tells you to take the 1st soil temp measurement at 2 minutes and then repeat the measurements at 1 minute intervals until consecutive reading are 0.5 - 1.0 degrees C. How long did it take for the thermometer to accurately record the soil temperature?
temp at 2 min = 14.5 degrees C
temp at 3 min = 15.6 degrees C
temp at 4 min = 15.9 degrees C
temp at 5 min = 16.0 degrees C

weight of can + dry soil = 400 grams

Write an equation that describes how to calculate net soil weight (X); dry soil weight (Y); amount of water and soil water content (Z).

B = weight of can + wet soil (422.7 grams)
C = weight of can + dry soil (398.2 grams)
Calculate the net soil weight.
Calculate the dry soil weight.
Calculate the amount of water.
Calculate soil water content.

Write an equation that describes how to calculate soil water content (amt.H2O).
NCTM Standard: algebra 2.2, 2.3

W2 = net weight (before drying) (422.7 grams)
