This Privacy Policy covers the Web site of the GLOBE® Program ("Site"), operated by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR). Use of this Site signifies your agreement to the Privacy Policy. Our Site collects no personal information about you unless you choose to provide that information to us.

1. What Personal Information is Collected? You can visit most of the Site without identifying who you are, or revealing information that can be used to identify you. However, some services require registration. In particular, to access and use the information, data, and materials on the Site does not require registration or providing any personal information; but to submit environmental data measurements, student project reports, and other information to the Site requires that a teacher at the school sign up for a GLOBE Teacher Training Workshop. For details about the information collected when a school signs up to participate in the GLOBE Program, see Section 6 of this Policy.

There may be some services on the Site which allow participation without having to be a registered GLOBE school, but do require some form of registration, such as participation in a Blog. Registration for such services may require that you complete certain fields, as well as choose a user name and password. In these situations, if you choose to withhold any personal information requested by us, it may not be possible for you to gain access to that service.

The Internet (IP) address is usually assigned by the Internet Service Provider for the duration of each session on the Internet, but it can sometimes identify the computer you are using to access the Internet. GLOBE does not link this general use information to any personally identifiable information.

3. GLOBEMail. If you log in as a GLOBE school, the information listed above is collected along with the identification of the school. All GLOBEMail entered is accessible to the school or person you address it to as well as to anyone at your school who is able to access GLOBEMail.

In an effort to respond to your request, information you submit may be viewed by some government employees, government contractor or grantee employees, GLOBE scientists, and/or a GLOBE U.S. Partner for your state or the GLOBE Country Coordinator for your country, so as to provide the best possible response to you. GLOBE informs these parties about safeguarding personal information, and requires them to use it only for an authorized purpose consistent with this privacy policy.

All environmental measurement data entered by a school is associated with the school and publicly available in the Data Access section of the Site.

5. Cookies. The GLOBE Web server computers do not enable "cookies," which are used by many Web sites to store information on a user's computer that provides for continuity of user support over multiple sessions.
