Large Flowered Valerian (Valeriana pauciflora), is a rare plant found in GWMP that adds splashes of pink to the spring wildflower show.

A total of 591 species of wildflowers have been documented from the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The spring wildflower show is no more brilliant anywhere in Virginia than in Turkey Run Park.

Did You Know?
The statue of FDR in a wheelchair, located at the memorial entrance, was not part of the original design, nor was it present for the 1997 dedication. Interested parties, including the National Organization on Disability, fought to depict FDR in a wheelchair; this additional statue appeared in 2001.
