The NIH realizes that there will be problems for organizations across a wide geographic area in submitting grant applications due to the recent ice storm in New England.  .  The usual NIH practice for such circumstances will apply.  Electronic and paper applications that are submitted late because of the storm should include a cover letter noting the reasons for the delay.  It is not necessary to get permission in advance for storm-related delays in grant application submissions.  It is expected that the delay will generally not exceed the time period that an applicant organization/institution is closed.
