Dr. Robert B. Bohn
HCI&IM and HEC Coordinator

Robert Bohn serves as the Human Computer Interaction and Information Management Coordinating Group (HCI&IM CG) and the High End Computing Interagency Working Group (HEC IWG) Technical Coordinator for the National Coordination Office (NCO) for Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD).

Dr. Bohn arrived at the National Coordination Office from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), where he was in Mathematical and Computational Sciences Division of the Information Technology Laboratory. In that role, he collaborated with scientists in NIST’s Physics & Building and Fire Research Laboratories to optimize and produce code for parallel computing systems from their standard serial based versions. He also served as a technical panel member on the Chemistry & Materials Office of the NIST Advanced Technology Program.

Prior to joining the NCO, Dr. Bohn completed a 24 month detail assignment in the NOAA Office of the Chief Information Officer/High Performance Computing and Communications office where he served to develop requirements for a “One NOAA” R&D high performance computing system, a member of their business team on their procurement team and project manager.

Dr. Bohn was a recipient of a National Research Council fellowship at NASA Ames Research center in Moffett Field, CA, received Ph.D. and Master of Science degrees in Physical Chemistry from the University of Virginia, a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University School of Business and Public Management, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois.
