NWCG IRM Technical Architecture Program

The NWCG Technical Architecture Program, under the direction of Carol Saras, Technical Architect, provides standards, knowledge, and support to the Wildland Fire community. The Technical Architecture Program recommends capabilities, standards, and interoperability requirements for technology deployed in the interagency fire community. Technical Architecture covers the following areas: all computer hardware, software, middleware, network components, telecommunications, messaging, and video.

One of the core products is a consolidated view of ALL the Wildland Fire Agencies Technical Reference Models. With this synchronized guidance, wildland fire managers and information technology representatives will have the information available to them when deciding upon which technology is the correct fit for their needs.

The Technical Architect also reviews new project initiatives for technical alignment to the National Wildland Fire Enterprise Architecture and advises on the life-cycle of technical components within the Enterprise Architecture.
