Vitamin D and your heart (AHA)

Researcher Thomas Wang of Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital says about a third of people in the Northeast have vitamin D levels as low as the people who had the higher risk in his study.

"The cutpoints that we chose, which most people would accept would correspond to having at least moderate to severe vitamin D deficiency – something that roughly a third of people in the Northeast have – those levels were associated with a 60 percent increase in the risk of having a cardiovascular event."
