Pathology

Gross:None Significant Overall frequency of lesions in these rats is low.
Histologic:  
       Lymphoid infiltrate lung 5/5Lesions are incidental and/or consistent with normal aging process and are not indicative of infection with murine adventitious pathogens.
       Focal interstitial pneumonia 1/5
       Harderian gland lymphoid infiltrate 1/5
       Microgranuloma liver 2/5
   

 

A few other incidental lesions were also noted.

  

Availability

Rats obtained from NIA-NIH aging colonies maintained in a maximum security barrier by Harlan in Indianapolis, Indiana. The combined census of these colonies, at the time of the referenced monitoring, is tabulated below:
