Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'd like to get high-speed Internet access in my community. What do I do?

A: First, check with the existing service providers—both telecom and cable and satellite providers—in your area to learn about currently available and planned services. If those services do not meet your needs, you may contact the ARC telecommunications staff (telecommunications@arc.gov) to discuss options for your community.

Q: How do I get E-Rate funding for my local schools?

A: E-rate funds are available from the Universal Service Program administered by the Federal Communications Commission. More information is available on this site under Telecommunications News and Events, and on the FCC Web site.

Q: Does ARC make available information on previously funded or completed telecommunication projects?

A: Yes. Please see the Best Practices section for a short list of project examples. If you do not find a project similar to the one you intend to undertake, you can contact your state ARC program manager or the ARC telecommunications staff for additional information.

Send your questions to the ARC telecommunications staff at telecommunications@arc.gov.
