The Council's International Programs: Facilitates responsible and effective grantmaking for international purposes among its members, Educates the public and U.S. Government about the value and contributions of international grantmaking, and Supports philanthropy as an essential part of a strengthened civil society around the world. International grantmaking is defined here to include grantmaking that crosses borders directly or indirectly as well as domestic grantmaking within any country that advances international understanding and cooperation.

Research - 01/13/2009
The goals of the Council's Research department are: to increase knowledge about foundations and other grantmakers to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its members to communicate the information it creates and encourage its use by members and others to support public policy on behalf of foundations and other grantmakers and, to maintain effective relationships with other institutions that conduct research in support of philanthropy. These goals are accomplished through the department's various surveys and reports, which are designed to increase knowledge about the board, staff and endowment management practices of foundations and corporate philanthropy programs.
