Essential Tremor Research Study of 1-octanol (05-N-0092)

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke is studying a new research medication for the treatment of Essential tremor. We are looking for those who have improvement in their tremors when using alcohol.

Subjects will receive octanol, a naturally occuring alcohol-like molecule found in orange peel. During the study, we will measure the absorption of the study medication into the body and the response of the tremor. The study requires a hospital stay of either 4 or 10 days at the NIH Clinical Center and one follow-up visit.

This study will be conducted at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

There is no cost to participate.
