Ethics Specialist
Job Description Ethics Specialists at NIH are responsible for the planning, administration, and implementation of the NIH Ethics Program and for ensuring that it is carried out in accordance with applicable ethics regulations and statutes, with emphasis on conflict-of-interest analyses of employees’ outside activities and official duties. Ethics Specialists provide advice and guidance to management and employees to ensure that research remains free of conflicts of interest; conduct reviews of the ethics programs to evaluate effectiveness and adherences to statutes and regulations of HHS and NIH policies; and coordinate the planning, development and implementation of ethics training activities. These positions require knowledge of Federal laws, regulations, precedents, and policies pertaining to ethics and conflicts-of-interest issues, as well as knowledge of how biomedical research is conducted.
