OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals - View on OECD Website
The Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals issued by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and
Development (OECD) are the most relevant internationally-agreed
test methods used by government, industry and independent laboratories to determine the safety of chemicals
and chemical preparations. Adoption of OECD Test Guidelines that incorporate alternative
test methods represents an effective means by which safety testing methods that reduce, refine and
replace the use of animals can be internationally implemented.
OECD Guidance Documents describe OECD's interpretation of an issue. Guidance documents
provide broad advice regarding a procedure or process, as opposed to Test Guidelines, which
describe more precise requirements or standards.
ICCVAM actively participates in the development and national review of
OECD Health Effects Test Guidelines and OECD Guidance Documents. Please see below for OECD Test Guidelines (TG)

were developed with ICCVAM participation and ICCVAM comments during the development process.
