ARC States' Co-Chair Ted Strickland, governor of Ohio
Governor Ted Strickland, a native of Lucasville, Ohio, received a bachelor’s degree in history from Asbury College in 1963. He later earned a master’s of divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary, and, in 1980, a doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Kentucky. Prior to Strickland’s election to Congress in 1992, his career included service as an administrator at a Methodist children’s home, an assistant professor of psychology at Shawnee State University, and a consulting psychologist at an Ohio correctional facility. He represented Ohio’s Sixth Congressional District in the House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994. In 1996, after a two-year hiatus, he was re-elected, continuing his congressional service until his election as Ohio’s governor in 2006. His committee memberships included the energy and commerce committee and the committee on veterans’ affairs.
