Curtis O. Porter

Acting Associate Commissioner

Curtis O. Porter is the Acting Associate Commissioner of the Family and Youth Services Bureau, at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C.

As the Acting Associate Commissioner, Mr. Porter is responsible for ensuring that the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) provide national leadership on youth and family issues. Under his leadership the Bureau’s Divisions of Youth Services, Abstinence Education and Family Violence Prevention promote positive outcomes for children, youth, and families by supporting a wide range of comprehensive services and collaborations at the local, State, Tribal and national levels.

Prior to joining the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) in 1995, Mr. Porter served as the Senior Assistant Director of Volunteer Emergency Families for Children (VEFC) a statewide faith-base host home program for runaway and homeless youth headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Porter also served the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia with distinction, as a member of the Virginia Criminal Justice Services Board and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) State Advisory Group.
