State Letter #02-30

TO: STATE REFUGEE COORDINATORS
VOLUNTARY RESETTLEMENT AGENCIES
MUTUAL ASSISTANCE AGENCIES

FROM: Nguyen Van Hanh, Ph.D.
Director
Office of Refugee Resettlement

SUBJECT: Final Notice of FY 2002 Targeted Assistance Formula Allocations

Enclosed is the FY 2002 Final Notice of Allocations to States of Funds for Targeted Assistance, published on September 10, 2002 (67 FR 57433).

This notice does not differ significantly from the notice of proposed allocations published May 28, 2002 in the Federal Register. Allocations have been adjusted slightly to reflect additional data on asylees and trafficking victims submitted by States in response to the proposed notice.

Applications from States must be received at the Office of Refugee Resettlement no later than October 10, 2002. Due to delays in mail delivery to Federal offices, we encourage States to use overnight courier service to ensure prompt delivery and receipt.

The format of the final notice is slightly changed due to ACF requirements. Information regarding the required application content may be found in the final notice under the headings "Required Assurances," "Approach," "Additional Information," "Budget and Budget Justification," and "Criteria #1, #2, #3 and #4."

Application forms may be found at the ORR website @ www.acf.dhhs.gov/programs/orr.

Please note that due to formatting for publication in the Federal Register, some box-shaped text markers appear in the text of the final notice at the end of paragraphs or instead of hyphens or apostrophes.

If you have questions regarding this notice or the application content, please contact Gayle Smith at (202) 205-3590 or by e-mail at gsmith@acf.hhs.gov.
