Public Meetings Schedule

How can I participate?
We invite you to participate by submitting comments, attending public meetings, and reading Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) publications and related materials. Major opportunities for public input occur during the public scoping process and Draft PEIS comment period.

You may also request to be added to the mailing list so that you will be notified of public meetings, document review periods, and other project milestones. To be added to the mailing list, please send your contact information to geothermal_eis@blm.gov or see Contact Us .

What is Scoping?
Scoping is an early and open process for determining the relevant issues that will influence the scope of the environmental analysis and the alternatives.  The public scoping period started with the publication of the Notice of Intent in the Federal Register on June 13, 2007 and concluded on August 13, 2007.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Forest Service (FS) invited interested parties to participate in the scoping process. The scoping process was intended to involve all interested agencies (federal, state, county and local), public interest groups, Native American tribes, businesses and members of the public.

As part of the scoping process, public meetings were hosted in 10 western states in July 2007. The meetings were held in the following 10 cities and included an open house and formal presentation and comment period.

In addition, 101 verbal comments were noted at the scoping meetings. Those commenting included federal, state and local agencies, Tribal members, interest groups and individuals. The Scoping Report provides a detailed overview of the scoping efforts and results.
