On July 27, 2006, Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) introduced H.R. 5940, the Comprehensive Comparative Study of Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Populations Act of 2006. H.R. 5940 would require the NIH to conduct a comprehensive study to (1) compare health outcomes, including risk of autism, in vaccinated and unvaccinated populations, and (2) determine whether vaccines or vaccine components play a role in the development of autism spectrum or other neurological conditions. H.R. 5940 was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
