H.R. 864—The Sober Truth on Preventing (STOP) Underage Drinking Act

On February 16, 2005, Representative Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA) introduced H.R. 864, the Sober Truth on Preventing (STOP) Underage Drinking Act. The bill would establish the Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Prevention of Underage Drinking, of which NIAAA would be a member; continue funding for a media campaign; and encourage research aimed at finding strategies to address the problem. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

FLOOR ACTION

November 14, 2006 - The House passed H.R. 864 by voice vote.

December 9, 2006 -  Both chambers of Congress passed H.R. 864.

PRESIDENTIAL ACTION

December 20, 2006 – The president signed H.R. 864 into law as P.L. 109-422.
