S&T FAQ 1 Plant Materials Centers Q: On the NRCS Reorganization Plan released on May 5th, I read nothing about the status or placement of the Plant Materials Centers. Will these be affected by the reorganization? If so, how? Which division will PMCs be under? Will they be independent of the new NTSC’s? Any information on this would be appreciated.
A: Plant Materials Centers are not affected by the reorganization. Only NRCS Institutes, Cooperating Scientists, and Regional Offices are affected. Plant Materials Centers will continue to be administered by the State offices in which they are located. The National Plant Materials Center will continue to be administered by the Maryland State Office. The National Plant Materials Program Leader of the Ecological Sciences Division within the Science and Technology Deputy area will continue to provide technical guidance to all Plant Materials Centers. As in the past, Plant Materials Centers will work with other technical specialists in their service areas, including the specialists at the new National Technology Support Centers and other new organizational units, as needed.
