Government and Public AffairsAbout AWWA Government AffairsAWWA maintains a Government Affairs Office in Washington, D.C., within a brief walk of the White House and short subway rides of Capitol Hill and the US Environmental Protection Agency. Those three entities are the focus of most of AWWA's governmental affairs efforts, although staff and members often deal with a myriad of other federal agencies as various issues arise. The Washington staff closely coordinates its many activities with the Water Utility Council (WUC). Together they develop action programs to initiate, evaluate, respond, and comment within the framework of Association policy, on legislative, regulatory, and other matters which directly affect water utilities.
