The Hamilton-Jefferson Counties Regional Office of Education provides educational services to the 18 school districts within the region representing students in grades K-12. Each school district is a local education agency providing public education to stukdents within the State of Illinois. The grant funds will be used to pruchase the equipment needed to connect all 18 districts/36 building sites to the Regional Office. Implementation of the project will increase the use of technological resources in each school bu8ilding in the region with the use of Internet and through the development of both lcoal area networks in school buildings and a wide area network. These activities will allow students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to get good jobs, be good citizens, and live productive lives in a global community. A Technology Learning Center in the Regional Improvement Center of the Regional Office will provide training for all school personnel and continuing education activities for parents in the community. Various groups with varied audiences within the Regional Office of Education will assist in measuring the impact of the program on staff development, parental involvement, student attitudes, and achievement.
