Federal Transit Administrator Announces Funding to Washington DOT

Federal Transit Administrator Jennifer L. Dorn today announced a grant of  $2.1 million in Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funds to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The grant awarded today, in the amount of $2,140,844, supports the Washington State DOT's Job Access and Reverse Commute efforts for areas throughout the state.  The funding announced today will finance capital and operating projects in rural and medium-sized urbanized areas as well as program administration costs for the state.

“For low income citizens, the elderly and persons with disabilities, public transportation is not just another transportation option, but a critical life line to jobs and other necessary services that improve the quality of life,” said Administrator Dorn.  “Washington State DOT is helping residents reach their goals of economic growth and opportunity by assisting communities in developing coordinated transportation systems that meet their needs.”

Administrator Dorn made the grant announcement to Washington State DOT while in the state touring transit facilities.
