Transportation Secretary Slater
On Postponement of Aircraft Hushkit Requirement
We welcome today's decision by the Transport Ministers of the European Union to postpone the implementation of the regulation to limit hushkitted aircraft. We continue to maintain our objections to the regulation as we have previously stated, including our concern for its discriminatory trade impact. We believe, however, that the action today by the ministers enables the E.U. and the U.S. to begin to address our differences.
