NASA/GSFC has a requirement for the purchase of 500 grams of polycrystalline gadolinium lithium fluoride (GLF) wafers with the following minimum specifications:
• Material: polycrystalline gadolinium lithium fluoride, GdLif
• Purity: 99% minimum
• Denisty: 99.0% minimu wit goal of 99.5+%, relative to density of
single crystal, GdLiF4 (5.7 g/cm3)
• Amount: 500 grams
• Dimensions cylindrical wafers measuring 20mm diameter, 3mm thickness
• Tolerance: on diameter, +0mm, -0.1mm
• Tolerance: on top thickness, +0.1mm
• Tolerance: top & bottom surfaces parallel to +0.025mm
Vendor shall provide documentation of chemical purity of starting materials used in the manufacture of the GLF wafers.
NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Yarmouth Materials Incorporated.
The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
DO Rating is DO-C9. The synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information solicited.
Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. eastern local time on January 29, 2009. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
