This certification path is intended for new students who will prepare tax returns for members of the armed forces. The Military Course is generally the Advanced course with special emphasis on tax issues that affect U.S. Armed Forces members and their families, such as combat pay, moving expenses, etc. It includes the full scope of VITA/TCE except with minimal pension income instruction.

Military persons going overseas for VITA/TCE must take two International lessons: Foreign Income Exclusion and Foreign Tax Credit. In addition, they need to be certified in both the Military and International tests.

You may "test out" of the Military Course by achieving a passing score on the Test. Proceed through the course in the order shown to complete the training:

A letter and some military medals.
