TWS is a membership services organization dedicated to meeting member needs. Over the past year, we’ve upgraded many of our member services, including improving our electronic communication with members, providing members with the ability to view and update their personal information (such as mailing address or job title), and creating a searchable membership directory.
For members who are new to using these services, we hope these answers to Frequently Asked Questions will help you to understand how to make best use of our system, and also help us identify where we can continue to improve these new services.
If these FAQs do not provide you with the information or assistance you need, please contact TWS Membership and Conference Assistant, Lisa Moll, at

1. What should I do if I can’t log into the system or the system is not responding when I am trying to join TWS online, renew my membership or modify my membership information?
To join TWS for the first time, go to the Online Membership Center, click “Join The Wildlife Society”, and then follow the instructions for new members.
To renew your TWS membership, go to the Online Membership Center and then log in. (note: You cannot renew your membership without first logging in). You will then be asked to enter your membership ID and password. Password is initially set to “wildlife”, but may be changed to something of your own choice after you have logged in for the first time. Once you are logged in to the Online Membership Center, you can make changes to your contact information, as well as change your login information.
2. How can I ensure that I receive the regular e-mail blasts and electronic newsletters sent by TWS?
Check to make sure your e-mail address is listed correctly in the TWS membership database by logging into the Online Membership Center and verifying your information.
Check the network system security settings at your workplace. Some organizations have software and/or firewalls that may read TWS e-mail blasts as “spam” and block them from reaching your email box. This is particularly true if your employer is a provincial, state or federal government agency, or a college or university. Ask your system administrator to change your settings so that TWS is identified as a legitimate and safe sender of messages for your system.
3. How do I update the e-mail address where I want to receive TWS e-mail blasts? To update your email address, log in to the Online Membership Center and follow the directions there.
4. How to I subscribe to TWS e-mail blasts if I unsubscribed from them before?
If you unsubscribed from TWS e-mail blasts using the “safe unsubscribe” link at the very end of the e-mail message, you will have to re-subscribe by yourself. To re-subscribe to the list click the “forward e-mail” link located at the bottom of a previous e-mail message from TWS, and in the new window put yourself and your e-mail address as one of the receivers. You will then receive a message that will have a “subscribe” link. If you experience problems, please

5. What do I do if I am a subscriber to TheJournal of Wildlife Management (JWM) and Wildlife Monographs in print and am not receiving copies of these publications in the mail?
Check your contact information in the Online Membership Center to verify your mailing address is correct.
Verify that you signed up to receive the print version of the JWM in addition to the online version. If you paid only $40.00 for your subscription during the time of your renewal, then you purchased the online version only. If you paid $60.00, then you purchased the online and print versions (outside the U.S., subscriptions are $95.00)
6. What do I do if I am a subscriber to The Journal of Wildlife Management and Wildlife Monographs online, but cannot access or download journal articles.
When you first subscribe, there is a slight delay (approximately one week) to access the publications since the subscriber list does have to be manually uploaded by Allen Press on a weekly basis.
Verify that you are using the correct username and password by going to www.wildlifejournals.org and selecting the desired publication Enter your username (your last name) and password (your membership ID number).
Note: downloading online journal articles is subject to JStor's Terms and Conditions of Use . 7. What do I do if I am a TWS member in good standing, but am not receiving in the mail my copies of The Wildlife Professional, TWS’ member magazine?
Verify the mailing address listed in the Online Membership Center is correct. Once the address is corrected, you should receive copies of The Wildlife Professional on a quarterly basis.
8. What do I do if I am a TWS member in good standing and am not receiving in the mail my copies of The Wildlifer, TWS’ member newsletter?
The Wildlifer is now available online only, except by special request. As an organization concerned with wildlife and natural resources conservation, we are looking to reduce our use of paper and printing supplies, which also allows us to keep member costs down.
If you wish to receive a paper copy of The Wildlifer, you must contact Lisa Moll, at
