Environmental leadership begins with your support. Please help us carry on the Nelson Legacy.

For Donors

Gifts are a crucial source of financial support for the Nelson Institute.

Private contributions enable us to offer unique scholarships, fellowships, internships, and travel opportunities for students; create special professorships to attract and retain outstanding faculty members; launch new research initiatives; offer public lectures and educational programs; and publish a newsletter for alumni and friends; and much, much more.

Please support the Nelson Institute. You can contribute through the University of Wisconsin Foundation, the official fund-raising organization for UW-Madison. Contributions are tax deductible, as allowed by law.

Types of Gifts

There are two basic types of gifts: (1) outright and (2) deferred. Outright gifts include cash gifts, corporate matching gifts, gifts of securities, and gifts of property. Deferred gifts are simply gifts made in the present and received by the UW Foundation in the future. Some deferred gifts are straightforward, such as a bequest in a will. Others are more complex, providing current tax benefits as well as life income for the donor and/or beneficiary.

Opportunities to Give

To support the Nelson Institute, you can make a general-purpose gift or designate your gift for one or more specific purposes.
