At Cornell, graduate research degrees and professional degrees are administered and conferred by several different colleges and schools, depending on the type of degree program and the field of research/specialized study or professional training covered.

Graduate School
The Cornell University Graduate School is organized into more than 90 major fields of study, independent of traditional college and department divisions, in which advanced-degree candidates enroll and engage in degree-program research or professional training under the guidance of a Special Committee of selected faculty members or a field advisor.
School of Hotel Administration and Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management
Beginning in June 2005, Cornell's Master of Hospitality Management (M.M.H.) degree program changed from a two-year four-semester to a one-year three-semester structure. The Cornell School of Hotel Administration admits students to, and administers, this specialized M.M.H. business-management degree program -- the equivalent of a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program but with an exclusive focus on the hospitality and service industries. The new Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality (CNI), established November 2004 at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, will divide its joint one-year M.M.H. degree program into a six-month segment spent on the CNI Singapore campus and a six-month segment spent on Cornell's Ithaca campus.
Cornell Law School
Cornell Law School admits students and administers the degree programs for, and confers, the Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree and the Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree, and admits students to and administers the Graduate School research Doctor of Science of Law (J.S.D.) degree program. It also offers a range of interdisciplinary and international joint degree programs.
Johnson Graduate School of Management
The Johnson Graduate School of Management admits students and administers the degree programs for, and confers, the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree. The Johnson School offers four different ways to earn its M.B.A. degree: the full-time two-year option, the twelve-month option, the Executive M.B.A. option, and the Boardroom Executive M.B.A. option. It also admits students to and administers the Graduate School research Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree program in the Field of Management.
Weill Cornell Medical College (New York City) and Weill Cornell Medical College (Doha, Qatar)
The Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City and in Doha, Qatar, admit students and administer the degree programs for, and confer, the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. The Doha, Qatar, branch inaugurated its full M.D. program in fall 2004, and also offers a preparatory two-year pre-medical program. Dual M.D./Ph.D. and M.D./M.B.A. degree programs and M.B.A. degree-with-honor programs also are offered.
Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences (New York City)
The Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences admits students and administers the degree programs for, and confers, the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in a variety of graduate fields, and the Master of Science (M.S.) degree in clinical epidemiology and health sciences research.
College of Veterinary Medicine
The College of Veterinary Medicine admits students and administers the degree programs for, and confers, the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) degree, and also coordinates dual D.V.M. degree and Graduate School research Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Science (M.S.) degree programs in a variety of graduate fields.
