Fabaceae (Leguminosae)

Texas indigo bush is endemic (native only to a particular region) to the Edwards Plateau, growing in limestone soils along creeks and streams. It is similar to A. paniculata, but the veins on the undersides of the leaflets are not prominent, the foliage is hairless, and the flower panicles are only half as long. It is more drought resistant than the other Texas Amorphas. Both A. roemeriana and A. paniculata have potential as ornamental plants, but so far have not been cultivated for nursery production.
