Several different maps are available for sale at Willamette National
Forest Offices.
In addition to the maps listed below, District
Offices also carry a selection of materials, including natural
history books, outdoor recreation books, wilderness maps, historical
books,
children's books, and Smokey Bear items. (Please call to
check on availability as not all of these items are offered at
each office.)
National Forest Visitor Maps
Forest Visitor Maps are generalized maps of an entire national
forest at a scale of 1/2" = 1 mile. They show main roads,
trails, developed recreation sites and opportunities. Maps for
national forests in Oregon and Washington are available at the
Supervisor's Office. Note: the Willamette National Forest stocks
Forest Visitor Maps for Oregon and Washington forests only.
You can get the Willamette National Forest Visitor map by:
Ranger District Maps
Ranger District Maps are maps of a ranger district at a scale
of 1" = 1 mile. They show more detail than Forest Visitor
Maps, including contours. Maps for each district (and the adjacent
district) can be purchased at that Ranger
Station or the Supervisor's Office. Note: we only stock
maps for districts on the Willamette National Forest. Ranger
districts do not stock maps of all the other districts.
Wilderness Area Maps
These are maps of individual wilderness areas, at various scales
and with a varying amount of detail. All have contours, trails,
and roads to trailheads. Wilderness maps are available at the
Supervisor's Office and at the
Ranger Station that manages the area.
Quadrangle Maps
These are maps based on the USGS 7.5' series. These are the
most detailed maps, at a scale of 1" = 2000' with 40' contours.
Each "quad" covers approximately 6 miles by 8 miles.
Complete Forest coverage is available at the Supervisor's
Office.
Special Area or Activity Maps
These are special recreation maps that cover a variety of specific
activities or areas, such as bike routes, scenic trails, scenic
byways, guidebooks, etc. They are available at most offices
for the activities or sites that are in that area.
