GEO - Group on Earth Observations
Launched at the July 2003 Earth Observation Summit, the intergovernmental ad hoc Group on Earth Observations (GEO) has been tasked to develop a 10-year implementation plan for advancing our collective ability to gather Earth observation data.

Earth Observation Summit (July 2003)
The purpose of the Earth Observation Summit was to promote the development of a comprehensive, coordinated, and sustained Earth observation system or systems among governments and the international community to understand and address global environmental and economic challenges.

US GEO
The US GEO (formerly known as IWGEO) formed to develop a 10-year plan for implementing the United States' components of an integrated Earth Observation System. The US GEO comprises representatives from 15 member agencies and three White House offices.

NASA's Earth Observing System
The Earth Observing System (EOS) developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is composed of a series of satellites, a science component, and a data system supporting a coordinated series of polar-orbiting and low inclination satellites for long-term global observations of the land surface, biosphere, solid Earth, atmosphere, and oceans. EOS will enable an improved understanding of the Earth as an integrated system.

NOAA's Global Earth Observations System Web site
This NOAA site provides information about the emerging and pioneering U.S. and Global Earth Observation Systems, including a fact sheet, details about U.S. and international efforts, and the specific value to every state, the District of Columbia and the Tribal Nations.

NOAA's Observation Tools
It has only been within the last 50 years that technology has advanced to the point that man has begun to examine the ocean in a systematic, scientific, and noninvasive way. This Web site from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) highlights current technologies that collect data from and about the ocean.

European Space Agency Earth Observation
The Earth Observation Portal provides access to a large variety of services from a number of contributors. Its objective is to bring together insights from different disciplines and to provide a single access point for information and services from Earth Observation including satellite imagery, a directory to locate data and resources, direct access to earth-observing satellite data as well as map servers and cartographic resources.

IDEA - Infusing Satellite Data into Environmental Applications
IDEA (Infusing satellite Data into Environmental Applications) is a partnership between the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in an effort to improve air quality assessment, management, and prediction by infusing satellite measurements (from NASA) into analyses (by EPA and NOAA) for public benefit.
