Student Employment

Developing Student Employment Opportunities for Current Boilermakers

Student Employment Services within the Division of Financial Aid brings eligible student employees together with both on- and off-campus community employers. We accomplish this in a variety of ways.

  • Jobs will soon be available on our Student Jobs website, but right now, all student employment opportunities are posted on SSINFO (click on Student Life, no login required).
  • Employers are able to post positions online.
  • Our Job Location and Development (JLD) program matches employers with Purdue students interested in student employment opportunites.

Our offices are located in the Division of Financial Aid, Schleman Hall of Student Services, Room 302. Our regular office hours are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. Our telephone number is 765-494-5056; our FAX number is 765-494-6707.

Students may be eligible to participate in the Federal Work Study (FWS) program if they file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by a March 1 priority deadline, meet other federal aid conditions, AND demonstrate financial need. If awarded FWS, students will be sent a Payroll Authorization Form.

If not eligible for Federal Work Student, students may still seek employment via numerous "regular" student employment opportunities.

Keep in mind that student employment is an important, and sometimes significant form of "self-help" financial aid. Students are the primary beneficiaries of a college education, so they can make an investment in themselves via self-help financial aid: savings from the past (student assets), earnings from the present (from part-time employment), and borrowed funds (through student loans paid back in the future).

A student job should be more than the path to a paycheck.  Employment should be a learning experience to help students become more organized, accept greater job responsibilities, and help develop transferable job skills that can apply to future career positions.

Student Employment Services in the Division of Financial Aid can help students develop the tools needed to find meaningful part-time and summer job positions. Seek more information regarding Student Employment Services via the website links on this page.
