Certified Organics

Definition of Organics

Organic food differs from conventionally produced food in the way it is grown, handled, and processed.  Organic food is produced by farmers who strongly emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations.  Fruits and vegetables are grown organically without using most conventional pesticides, fertilizers, bioengineering; or ionizing radiation.  Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics, no growth hormones, and are fed an organic diet. Before a product can be labeled "organic," a government-approved certifier inspects the farm where the food is produced to make sure the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. Look for the USDA organic seal to ensure the produce you buy is organic.
