Oil and Gas

BLM New Mexico has one of the largest oil and gas programs in the Bureau. The four-state area has over 45 million acres of mineral estate and over 2 million acres of Native American (Indian) mineral estate. Two of the largest reserves of natural gas in the world are located in the Hugoton Field in southwest Kansas and the San Juan Basin in the northwest corner of New Mexico.
