Permits

Do I need a permit for my visit?
Permits are required for a variety of reasons. Anyone who is paid to bring people to the park or guide people in the park needs a CUA guiding permit. If you're planning on doing photography with models or props, having a wedding, scattering ashes, exercising first amendment rights, or any special event or activity, you should also have a permit.

How much do permits cost?
A CUA guiding permit is $250. You will need one for photography, filming, or guiding. All other permits are $50. Some park uses require monitoring by park staff or rehabilitation of damaged resources, which can result in extra costs.

Will I need insurance?
You will need insurance for any guiding activity or photography involving models or props.

Yellow Starthistle

Did You Know?
The yellow star thistle is one of many invasive (non-native) plants threatening the ecosystems of Pinnacles. Many seeds are accidentally transported into the park on shoes and gear; you can do your part to prevent the spread of these pests by cleaning shoes, socks, and gear before visiting the park.
