Fire Restrictions
New Fire Restrictions:  Due to intense wildfire activity in California, there are increased fire restrictions currently in effect at Pinnacles.  Open fires of wood, compressed logs and charcoal are not allowed.  Stoves fueled by petroleum or liquid Propane Gas (LPG) fuels are allowed only in designated picnic or campground fire areas.

Climbing Advisories in Effect
Advisories for climbers and off-trailhikers go into effect on January 17, 2008. The goal of the advisories is to protect sensitive raptor species as they raise their young. Advisories are traditionally in effect until late June or early July.

Two California Condors Found Dead on Big Sur Coast
Two California condors, #301 and #307, were found dead during the week of May 14, 2007 along the Big Sur coast. The causes of death for both birds is still under investigation.

Condor 417 was found dead just outside Pinnacles National Monument on Saturday, May 12. She had been released into the wild for the first time on May 3rd. The cause of death is not yet known.
