From January 5 through February 2, the Center is installing two new exhibitions that open in the Galleries on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 and run through August 2, 2009. See the Upcoming Exhibitions section of our web site for descriptive information.
Until the new exhibitions open, while visiting the Ransom Center, be certain to view the Gutenberg Bible and the First Photograph on permanent display in the lobby.
The Gutenberg Bible
The Gutenberg Bible is the first substantial book printed from movable type on a printing press. The Ransom Center holds one of five complete copies in the United States.
The First Photograph
One of the finest pieces of the Ransom Center's photography collection is the first photograph, which Frenchman Joseph Nicéphore Niépce produced in 1826.
