Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer support is welcomed in the collections of Performing Arts, Music, Photography, Film, Manuscripts and Archives, Art, French, and in the Center's Reading Room, Conservation Department, and Marketing Department. Volunteer duties may include, but are not limited to, public service, research service, preservation, inventory and rehousing of collection materials, compilation of finding aids, retrieving and reshelving collection materials, collection reorganization and maintenance, and working with the public as a docent, visitor services volunteer, or special events volunteer. Volunteers greatly contribute to the Center's accomplishments and are considered a valuable component of the organization.

Volunteer assignments are based upon the current needs and projects of the Center and on the expertise and interests of the volunteer. When a match is found that mutually benefits the volunteer and the Center, the assignment is offered to the volunteer.   Volunteer Application

Advisory Council

The Ransom Center's Advisory Council is the foundation and reflection of our growing strength. Aside from being the Center's staunchest supporters and an important source of practical advice, the Council serves as a bridge to the broader public. With each passing year, the Council grows not only in prestige, but also in diversity of talent and base of support for the Center.

Representation by members from the Austin area is important to foster outreach within the local community. Members from areas statewide and beyond are also vital to provide the Center with a national perspective.

The Council meets in Austin each spring and fall, though members are involved in the Center's activities and programs throughout the year.   Council Members
